United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

The United Nations Enviornment Programme (UNEP) has as mission “to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, an enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations”, clearly in line with the new approach of the Sustainable Development Goals. It serves as the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya and it has a total budget of 785.7M$, clearly insufficient to achieve its goals. The SEIMUN Secretariat is very proud to offer this new committee to its delegates and suggest together a youth-based solution to the main issue this and future generations will face: Climate change.
